I‘m back from one of the longest blogging breaks I’ve ever been on (I haven’t posted since March 3d, eek!), but with good reason! My life became a bit of a whirlwind in the spring, since I was gearing up for my own wedding, honeymoon and summer wedding marathon. We’ve had high highs and low lows with the former outweighing the latter, but I needed some time to let everything sink in and land on my feet.
Iwanted to share this outfit I wore to a family gathering when fall just started, and it has become a favorite since then. I love the combination of the deep red color and the floral print. Red has always been a constant in my wardrobe, and this coat feels like a real statement that upgrades every outfit. Hope you have lovely plans for the weekend! I’m celebrating my 30th birthday on saturday so I’m hoping the weather won’t be too horrible.
Happy Saturday guys, hope you’re all doing well! When Juttu reached out to me to highlight their #ikkoopbelgisch pop up shop I didn’t have to think twice. My love for Belgian design runs deep, from the brands I used to sell at my own shop to the work of some of my most talented friends.
I think “support your local scene” is something we should all do more often, and even more so because starting as an entrepreneur in Belgium is definitely no joke, but that’s a whole different blogpost! So today I want to introduce you to two brands from Juttu‘s #ikkoopbelgisch pop up shop.
Hi Folks! Remember me? Or better yet, remember my face, haha? It’s been a while since I posted my last outfit post. November 2015 to be exact. So I thought that I’d pick up where I left off, and that’s with a really really really good trench coat.
In the past few years I feel my personal style has become a lot more grown up, but perhaps also a lot more basic. I love classic, versatile pieces I can wear over and over again and don’t have to think too much about, so a lot more neutrals have found their way into my closet. This mbyM trench has been glued to my body ever since I got it, but on this particular day I combined it with a jacket from the new Polienne x Vila festival campaign featuring my friend Paulien (remember her home tour here?). It became a perfect outfit for a dinner and cocktails with friends, one of those first sunny days that energize you and makes you feel like new. Hope you guys enjoyed the first spring days!
I‘ve mentioned this Burberry trench before here and worn it here, and about 5 years I scooped it up for a fraction of its worth in a vintage shop in Barcelona. I couldn’t be happier I took it with me, even if I thought it was a bad bargain for about a year. It’s just one of those pieces that comes in handy when you live in a rainy country like Belgium. Season after season, you only need a few new accents to make this old silhouette feel new again.
I’ve shot this outfit a while back, when the trees were still green here in Antwerp. I’m wearing it here with some new fall items, the bag, shirt and sweater coming from my own shop Lily and the Lady (no surprises there, right?), and white leather Keds with a triple sole (on sale atm), probably my favorite pair so far, a great twist on the classic champion model. Oh and a coffee from Mirlo’s, which has been a very regular stop for me since it opened. Owner Merel is a real sweetheart and the french toast is to die for. Do check it out when you have the time!
Sometimes it takes me quite a while to get dressed in the morning, and sometimes I’m imagining an outfit while still snoozing in my bed, try it on and get it right on the first try. This one is a rare example of the latter, an outfit I wore on a lovely slow sunday when we went treasure hunting for our home. All black with a dash of deep red in the form of my new favorite blazer from Lily and the Lady. Have a great weekend, I hope you have lovely plans. (Or equally lovely, no plans at all!)
We’ve been having some glorious Indian summer days here in Antwerp the past week, so I’ve been soaking up some vitamin D before fall and winter turn into one big grey mess of cold, rain and slush with no beginning and no end.
On saturday, the boyfriend and I went for a late breakfast in our neighborhood after a friend’s wedding, and you guessed it right, this is what I wore. Easy basics and some rose gold details on my Sacha sneakers and Alexander Wang bag. We’ve also moved some stuff around in our house this weekend, creating some more space and throwing out some things we didn’t need.
Those of you who know me, know I’m quite the
hoarder collector, and I tend to have a hard time letting go of things with sentimental value, and to me that’s almost everything. Movie stubs, books, magazines, especially clothes. But with everything that’s been going on the past few months, I’ve felt I really needed some purging and changes on every level. There’s a little preview of our living room on my Instagram, right here, and I’ll write an update soon. I always notice in my stats how interested you guys are in the home renovation posts ;). Have a happy week!
Yep, fall has officially landed in Belgium. Meanwhile, I still have outfits from tropical Cuba and New York lined up and an update on my terrace that is waiting to be posted. Yes, I’m definitely running behind, but maybe I can prolong summer just a bit this way.
For me, the only nice thing about dropping temperatures is wearing new season clothes, like my new sleeveless coat, sneakers and statement necklace. Here’s an outfit I wore yesterday, captured by my dear friend Sarah, definitely oozing the spirit of fall.
Hello from upstate New York, where I’m recovering from a wedding in a big fluffy hotel bed. I have to say the wedding was beautiful, with a personal ceremony, amazing food and lots of love. The whole thing was well worth the trip overseas.
Hi guys, starting september with a throwback to my summer trip to Cuba. These pictures were taken the first day we arrived in Varadero. It was late in the afternoon and we just couldn’t wait to go dip our toes in that crystal clear water. I have to say I thought I’d be bouncing off the walls by day three in a place like Varadero, but our stay in the Royalton Hicacos there was pure bliss. The rest was more than needed.
While I was preparing for the trip I noticed my wardrobe was in no way holiday proof, especially not for a three week trip to a hot, humid country. The downside of living in Belgium I guess? Luckily, you don’t need much when you’re living the good life in a country like Cuba. Denim shorts, a couple of tops and dresses and a beach cover up like this Kaftan. I actually snatched this kaftan from my mother’s wardrobe (well, she gave it to me to take on the trip) and I wish I could just walk around in flowy stuff like this all year. How long do we have to wait until it’s summer again?
