Around the House #7: New In

By 0 24

i guys, hope you’re doing well! If you’re following me on Instagram Stories you may have seen that I’ve recently added two new beautiful accessories to my space from Flinders. As you may or may not know, I’m a big fan of online shopping (I even used to have mu own online boutique). As much as I like to experience a store to discover new things, when I know what I want, nothing beats finding exactly the item I need one mouse click away. I just love how I can compare all the options and not having to hear “yes, we do carry the pendant, but we don’t have the table lamp” and go home all disappointed. So I clicked together two new items I’d been lusting after for a long time and before I could blink, they were delivered and in my home! And yes, I’m super happy with them. One thing’s for sure, I’m not over brass yet. Nope, not even a little. And I’m not sure I ever will be.

First up, there’s this cute little Ikebana vase designed by Jaime Hayon for Fritz Hansen, an object I first spotted about a year ago and have not forgotten since. The object gets its name from Japanese flower art, where flowers are often arranged asymmetrically and vertically. I’m no flower expert like my friend Nathalie, but I do like to experiment a bit and Ikebana is a great vase to start with because it gives you a framework. Even with only a few flowers, your arrangement will be unique. And if I’ve learned anything here, it’s that you should always start with the vase when arranging flowers.

Next up there’s something that’s been on my wishlist for quite some time: an IC Lights lamp from Michael Anastassiades for Flos. And oh what a beauty she is. I first saw this lamp a few years ago in the Flos store in Soho, New York, when Dieter was looking for lamps for his Tribeca Loft project. Apart from being such a simple and lovely design, it’s actually quite affordable for lighting in its category. I’ve actually always looked at the pendant lamp but never really found the right place for it, so now we settled on a table lampĀ and I’m super happy with it. It’s currently pretty happy next to our sofa but I’m pretty sure it’ll move a few times when I’m restyling corners in our home. Such a versatile piece that fits many purposes. Oh and if you’re not that into brass as yours truly, these lamps also come in chrome. And they’re currently 10% off!

ps: Here’s a sneak peek of the entire living room! I will show you more later this week but as you can see we chose the green velvet Harper sofa and I’m super happy with it! (Missed the post where I laid out our options? Find it here)
