y friend Sarah’s one bedroom in Antwerp is quite something. She spent so much time meticulously planning the decoration of her home during the remodel that my jaw litteraly dropped when I first walked in there. Her place looked as if she’d lived in it for years, not weeks, and everything seemed so finished I started to feel jealous thinking of the unfinished corners in my own home. Three years in the making and there was my bathroom radiator, still leaning up against the wall, mocking me from the back of my mind.
Sarah made some bold choices for her home, and I love each and every one of them. There’s the Farrow & Ball paint on the walls (yes, I may have had some influence there, ha!) to the copper wall in the bathroom, the vintage kitchen cabinets she picked up in Switzerland and the unique furniture, all coming together in a beautiful mix that works like magic.
Another thing I love is the custom steel and wood funiture by one of my high school friends Lino. He and his wife make beautiful custom pieces. Sarah had him make some items for her kitchen and bathroom, and they make everything come together and add a more industrial vibe to her home. If you’re in Leuven you should drop by Koffie en Staal, the wonderful coffeeplace run by Lino’s wife Nouchka, where you can see and buy some of their items as well.
And then there’s that hidden depiction of Audrey Hepburn handpainted by Sarah when you visit the smallest room in the house, showing you the talents of the creative homeowner.
