I feel I’ve been in a spiral of busy weeks, sometimes unable to tell weekdays from weekends, working late, skipping meals and neglecting daily chores. I’m constantly trying to keep up and feel overwhelmed by the thought of some e-mails I had to answer days, or even weeks ago. I am my own boss an consequently I’m the only one to blame but honestly, it always scares me how easy it is to lose track of the things that really matter and take care of your physical and mental health.
Two years ago I paid the price for previously neglecting all the stop signs that sometimes busy is too busy, even when you’re self employed. The light went out, I was done, there was nothing left. I had to make some changes. The frustrating part is I learned so much and yet so little.
Case and point? These lovely Leica Sofort snaps I took in the beginning of the year, and I’ve been wanting to share, but haven’t had the time for. My favorite photography shop (Foto Leeman) sent the camera to me to take it on a test drive, and I was very pleased with the results. Looking trough them, I’ve noticed they’re picturing all the right things. Having to think twice about all the snaps you take, you end up with the important things. Close friends and family, my love, daily cuddles with George the cat. The celebration of a dear friend’s new job, a lazy saturday brunch with the boyfriend that was memorable because it was the most relaxing thing you did in a while.
Luckily, the best breathing room is in sight. My yearly summer holiday is now officially booked, my boyfriend and I are going to Mexico for three weeks, and I’m looking forward to it sooo very much. I also have a break planned with friends in Portugal at the end of the month. Needless to say, I’m sooo very ready for summer! And so is my wardrobe: I’ve welcomed a beautiful and versatile Dcember bag into my collection, some strappy-with-the-perfect-heel Manfield sandals, and a new Estee Lauder lipstick in the perfect shade of red. What are your plans this summer?
